I have a goodman central heating and air heatpump unit. When you set the thermosat to a temp. The compressor comes on and heat comes out. After the desired temp is reached the compressor shuts off and the inside unit stays on. I know it should run for awhile but it will stay on for 20 mins or more. The air is cool not hot.. If the temp drops below what the thermosat is set at the compressor comes on and heat comes out again..
Just wanted to know if that was normal.

A lot of units today have an off delay timer built into the fan relay. When the thermostat is satisfied, the indoor blower motor will continue to run [usually for about 60 seconds] to purge the indoor coil and ductwork of the residual heated or cooled air depending on what cycle the system is operating in. Most likely, the timer/relay is malfunctioning. It's also possible that the relay contacts have stuck closed. I'm assuming you have checked the thermostat and the FAN switch is set to AUTO.
