What is the difference in a copeland compressor and a copeland compliant compressor? Does it have anything to do with the manufactures?

miko:

The difference is that the Copeland compressor is a standard piston type reciprocating compressor.

The compliant refers to the Copeland Compliant Scroll model.
This a more recent type of compressor that uses a screw like mechanism to compress the refrigerant rather than a piston.
They are considerably more efficient and more able to take abuse than the piston type.
