I have a room addition with a tile floor, insulated crawl space. The room has a floor register ( on an outside wall) with a 8 foot run of 6" flexible pipe running to it from the end of the plenum(sp). The room is cool due to the tile floor. Can a duct booster be installed in a flexible duct, if so is the wiring a do it yourself project?

I'd take the flex stuff out! Flex adds a lot of restion on the air flow.. So replace it with the metal pipe. ALso, you will not be able to put in a duct boaster on the flex...

in my opinion duct boosters do not work. i would increase the size of the run to 8 inch, put a reducer at the outlet but increase the tap at the unit to 8. try putting one of those plastic covers on the register to direct the heat across the floor.

I agree that duct boosters are a waste of time and money.
You would have to wire the unit plus install a wall thermostat to control it.

The proper fix as hvac4u has suggested is to increase the size of the pipe going to that room.
You would then adjust the dampers on the rest of the system to balance the airflow.
This would be cheaper and simpler to do.
