Does anyone have a source for a replacement remote control for my Onkyo receiver (which our dog found tasty)? I've tried online with no success. It's an older receiver, circa approx. 1992. Remote #RC 223S (I think... damn teeth marks!), receiver model # R1 (tuner/amplifier).
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried this site? They list universal and replacement remotes.
http://www.remotecentral.com/
I saw universal remotes at Wal-Mart or Target for under $20 that claim to run up to five different devices.
In the worst case you can probably order one from an Onkyo dealer, but get ready to pay $$$.

Here's a link to their website store:
http://www.shoponkyo.com/
When I typed in R1 as the device, it gave me a different remote number than you stated. Maybe there is another number it needs instead.
I purchased an universal remote for my son's tv, but it wouldn't control the aux commands. We could get it off that 'station' so he could watch tv, but couldn't get it back there to play the playstation. It required the actual remote for that tv to accomplish that. The replacement remote was only $15 with shipping from the tv mfr. Not too bad.
Please let us know what you find out.

I didn't have any luck on either of those sites, but thank you! I've written Onkyo in the past with no response. Another site is www.remotes.123.com (http://www.remotes123.com)
But I've also contacted them in the past with no response. I guess this unit is just too old for folks to deal with a replacement, and I'd like to avoid a universal. I've never had ANY luck with those.
:sigh:
Thanks!

As follow-up to this thread, I was delightfully surprised at work yesterday to receive a call from a www.remotes123 rep who was responding to my request for a replacement remote. He indicated that he didn't have any, but had contacted Onkyo and was going to pursue a back-order for the item.
Very nice, indeed! Unfortunately, he wasn't too convinced that the Mfgr. would come through, but did assure me he'd keep his eye out for a used unit. Apparently they deal with thousands of used/refurbished remotes a month...

Gary.
THANK YOU! Your link proved to be my salvation! They had the remote, and while the cost was a tich higher than I had hoped for, it will be well worth the $34 to avoid having my kids break the bevelled glass doors of the stereo cabinet by constantly opening (and leaving open) the doors in order to tweak the volume/station, etc.
Thanks SOOooo much!
