I would like to combine a wall switch to a switch and plug in. Can it be done and how. The switch is in my kitchen. Thankyou, Fran

Look in the box the switch is in. Is there one wire or more than one. If there is only one wire, you have only a switched leg coming to the box and you cannot do it. If there is more than one wire, you can do it. Purchase a switch/outlet combination and do the following.

Hook the switch portion up like the switch is hooked up now. Run a jumper from the hot leg of the switch to the brass colored screw on the outlet. There should be some two or more white wires tied together in the back of the box. This is the neutral. Run a white wire from these white wires to the silver looking terminal on the outlet. Don't forget to hook up your bare ground wire. This should do it. Good Luck!

hello fmdono419kp,
what rl boatright is telling u is if there is only a white and a black in this box u cant do it this is what we call a switch leg where power is in the light. if u have 2 full sets of romex 2 black, 2 white, 2 bare then this can be done as power is in the switch box, just follow boatrights directions and u will be fine.

It's me again! I found it. My son is coming over tomorrow and is going to do it for me if he can. I now have all the information I need and will give it to him. Thankyou for your help. Am so glad I found you. I'll let you know how I make out. I hope I have more than one wire. Talk to you later Fran
