I am putting a ceiling fan into an old light fixture. This circuit has a dimmer switch, light & receptacle on it -- switch does not control receptacle. This fixture had a total of 9 wires in it (2 white, 2 red, 3 black & 2 bare). The combination for the light when I opened it was that the 2 white wires & one red were together, a red wire was by itself, the 3 black wires were together & the bares were together. My ceiling fan has 1 blue (fan light)1 black (fan motor) & 1 white (neutral). What do I attach to what for the fan to work correctly?

I would suggest calling an electrician. Sounds like you have 2 either 12/3 or 14/3 romex wires in the box, but where does the third black wire come from and what's it for?
