My end of run outlet doesn't want to work, even after replacing it. The fixture prior to it works fine. After testing the outlet for power I noticed that my tester light did light up some, but not as bright as other outlets I tested it against. Should I suspect a loose connection somewhere between the prior fixture and outlet?

Yes, you likely have a loose connection either at the prior outlet, or somewhere in between. If you can follow the wire from one outlet to the next, look for a junction box somewhere in between. There may be a loose connection there. If there is no junction box, then the problem is most likely at the "good" outlet. Either the wires are not connected well there, or perhaps the outlet itself is bad (depends how things are wired). Double check to make sure your connections are tight where you replaced the "bad" outlet.
