I am wondering about my outside phone line
box? The box has 4 posts to connect too, but
the phone co. only used the right side. They
did not use all 4 wires. Only red and green.
The black and yellow are not connected. Is
this normal ???

thanks bullneck

For a single line service, that's normal.

Thanks Mr Tait, that was what I was hoping
to hear. I just thought the 2 other wires
needed to be hooked up

The protector that the phone company installed can be used for either one or two lines. If you only have one line, then the green and the red are all that will be connected. If you add a second phone line, then they will use the other half and attach the black and yellow wires. Simply saves them having to replace the protector should you decide on a second line, like for a fax or computer, or just a second number.
quote:
Originally posted by bullneck:

Thanks Lefty, I went to radio shack and I
bought some phone wire, and an indoor plug
in box. I just used the same set-up the phone co did and ran the wire thru the wall into
the house and mounted the new box.

thanks again bullneck
