I have new porch light fixtures to replace the original small, inexpensive, builder-installed ones.

The existing fixtures have a "backing plate", a circle of plastic or maybe even wood with a notch cut in the back to fit over the edge of the siding. The light fixture mounts onto this "backing plate".

The new light fixtures, however, are larger and require a larger "backing plate". I have found some at the Home Depot, but these have multiple notches for two edges of siding. Since my siding is large, cedar siding, one notch will work fine.

But I don't know the official name for these "backing plates" to begin a search for a larger one with just one notch. Any hints??

The plates are called electrical installation plates and are found in the siding departments, not electrical. There are several different types. Good Luck
