I would like to add ceiling fans to the bedrooms but do not know what needs to be done with the electrical to run it to the ceiling?? Can i run it right from the Switch that controls my outlet???????? Can someone please help me get started on this project, i would greatly appreciate it

First you should do a survey to determine how many and which switches/outlets are on each circuit. This may be a bit tedious, but worthwhile in the long run. Turn off one breaker at a time and then test to see which outlets are on each circuit. Write all that down. Once you know how many outlets are on a circuit, you can determine if you have capacity to add a ceiling fixture or not. Actually, in current practice ceiling lights are usually kept on a separate circuit so that if you pop a breaker with something plugged in to a socket you won't also be in the dark. So it might be best to just go ahead and add a new circuit for this.

I'm sure sprky will know how many outlets can share a circuit with a light, if any. The codes keep changing and I haven't looked at the newest ones.

How hard id it to run a complete new breaker for the ceiling fixtures?? Can i run 1 new breaker and have that do all of the ceiling fixtures for each of the 3 bedrooms??

Assuming there is room in you breaker box, a 15Amp breaker could handle 3 ceiling fixtures with no trouble, as long is there is no code forbidding fixtures in different rooms being on one circuit. Breakers plug in to the box easily. After that, it's just a matter of snaking the wire where you need it to go.
If there is unfinished space above those rooms it should not be too hard. Since you want ceiling fans, make sure you get the kind
of box meant to hold that weight.

hello cierrasdad,
first off according to the code in a residance there is no limet to the amount of recepticals that can be on a circuit, but on other hand common sence says there is. whin i wire a home i try to put no more then 20 outlets on a 20 amp circuit and 15 on a 15 amp, and i have never had any trouble with overloaded breakers, useing this setup. i have wired homes both ways lighting and recepticals on same circuit and seperat circuits, persionaly i like them seperat but nothing mandates this. if there is room in your panel and there is axcess to the walls/ cellings from the attic or basement/crawlspace i would run a new circuit and place all 3 celling fans on it. if u let me know what u decide, new circuit or existing, wheather u plan on running wire in attic or basement i will tell u what u will need and how i would wire this. u may post or email me eather way i will try my best to help u.
