My husband and I have wired an new home. He is the electrician, I am just his helper. Wiring the telephone is my duty. We have the four line wire with the 8 twisted pairs, Blue, Green, Orange, Brown. Most of the phone jacks in the house are the new, simple ones that are color coded to the Blue, Green, Orange, Brown arrangement. Hooked those up, work great! However, there are two jacks in the house that they got that are the screw and match to the red, green, yellow, black wire setup. I have 8 wires coming out my cable and four wires coming out my jack and none of the colors match up. (except the green) I understand that the red and green are the primary wires for line 1, however, I don't know what the primary wires for line 1 are for the cable. The other jacks just had a place for all of them to go so I plugged them all in. Help!

Thank you so much,
Sharlee

hello Sharlee,
you r correct that the green and red r the line 1 and black and yellow r line 2 on the jacks.
now as to your cabel the blue pair is line 1 orange pair is line 2 green pair is line 3 and brown pair is line 4. now to transulate the color chainges;
white with blue stripe = green (tip)
blue with white stripe = red (ring)
white with orange stripe = black (tip)
orange with white stripe = yellow(ring)
hope this helps u out
