When tv is powered on the relay pulls in but the set will not come on. It makes 3 attempts to start and then nothing. Any idea what the problem is and where to start looking.

This sounds like what my TV was doing... although I am no expert

Remove the HOT transistor, apply power, and press the power button. If it turns on and you have a static sound (no picture) you have a bad flyback transformer or the diodes around it.

Tech Tip as follows:

1)No start-up and pulses three times. All standby voltages ok./Replace regulator I.c. U18101 on PIP board.

Thanks for the help. I have a sam's schematic coming and I will let you know what I find as soon as I have a chance to get into it.

Thanks Fred. it appears that u18101 is the culprit. I pulled the PIP board and the set started up. I'll go to the parts store tomorrow and get a new regulator IC. Once again thanks for the help.
