I have a box wondow with a pine cill. I want to add a piech of birch veneer on top so as to stain like anotyher wintod which I just installed.

1) How do I go about doing this
2) Is it feasible
3) Where do I get a sheet of birch veneer. I would also settle for oak. IT just has to stain like birch ir oak.

My experience in making pine look like birch or oak while staining does not produce good results.

Try your local lumber yard. You can get a birch (or oak) door skin. That is the smallest quantity of veneer you will find. Probably looking at about $30 or so for it. Could you simply replace the pine sill with a piece of birch? The lumber yard should have that too -- probably less than $10.

The have every kind of veneer know to man.....Look at their flexible veneers...a 24x96" birch is about $25.....the flex stuff is a veneer bonded to a flexible backing and is REAL easy to work with.
