We are laying ceramic tile in our bathroom and need to cut a large hole out of the center of a 12" tile for the toilet drain. We have tried drilling a series of holes close together and then we were to tap the center piece out--idea from Home Depot guy--That hasn't worked. We then got a Tungsten Carbide saber saw blade and in a half hour have managed to cut about an inch. At this rate it will take us until next month to cut the hole out! Do you have any suggestions for a faster cut? Is there a tool we could rent to get this done more quickly? Thanks so much for any help you can give us. Jeanette

If you think about it, the base of the toilet will cover most of this tile. Right? Cur the tile in half, smack down the middle and nip away and the hole does not even have to be a work of art either.

This can be done but the tools are expensive and for just one cut it isn't worth the money or the time. Do as suggested and cut the tile in half then nibble out what you need to. This will go unnoticed for the most part if you leave just the saw-cut for a grout line this one time.
