Has anyone had any experience with Fine Finish Windows & Doors Co.? They are located in Orange, CA and specialize in making custom sized windows and doors.
I live in the SF Bay Area and just purchased a 1958 ranch style home. The first project will be a partial kitchen renovation. I need to replace a crank style kitchen window and two slider doors. All the existing windows and sliders are ugly aluminum. The sliders do not open and close properly. I've looked at products made by Andersen, Viking, Atrium, and a few others. I was considering a divided light style in vinyl, but don't like the look of grids sandwiched between two large glass panes. That eliminates Viking. Atrium makes a pine product with aluminum clad exterior, internal grilles and removable interior wood grilles in standard stock sizes. I liked the looks of this one, but a slider and two sidelights for a 9' opening costs @ $2800 + tax (ouch).
Then I was learned of Fine Finish company. Their rep comes out and answers questions then measures your windows and doors. Once the order is placed they build the window or door for a custom fit. Their doors and windows are made of oak & poplar and doors come complete with thresholds and Baldwin hardware. These are true french doors (not simulated) and all products come with a 10 year warranty. The price of $3364 (for a 9' opening) includes tax, shipping and curbside delivery. Installation can be arranged with Home Depot or your own contractor.
To my way of thinking, the pricing for Atrium and Fine Finish is comparable, but everything else is not. The custom features, quality of materials and craftsmanship of FF is far more impressive. I sure would like to hear from some folks that have done business with this company. I'm pretty much sold on this product, but want to make sure I'm not missing anything. They have a website at www.finefinish.com.

As being someone very close with Fine Finish..... I WOULD NEVER put fine finish in my house.....
their 10 year warranty is actually 5 now
corners are being cut more and more with this company and they are using crappier and crappier materials.
if you live near any ocean expect your hardware to pit and rust within 6 months to a year(the hardware they use is marked "For interior use") Unless you buy the lifetime warranty hardware then u get a much better hardware.....
Expect warping, leaking etc.....if you need customer service youll have to wait 1-2 weeks. Although if you want to buy more product expect them out within 1-2 days.
Customer Service is poor and the salesman are just that....salesman(used car salesman almost)
as far as pricing i dont know much about other companies BUT fine finish gets quite expensive(2500+ for a typical french door with no extras) Expect to spend 10 grand and only get 1 or 2 door systems and 1 or windows....
stay away is my message
