We need to build a whole new porch rail/posts on our concrete porch with an overhang. Currently it has an old wrought iron railing and we want to replace it with simple wood posts and square spindles. The house is a 1940 bungalow and we want to keep the style simple. Any ideas or anyone know where I can find plans? TIA

On-line, you might try deckplans.com for ideas. Other sources might include any of the books about deck design and construction, and you might look at the broshures put out by the composite mfgrs. like Trex.
Two rails and vertical pickets between them isn't rocket science -- maybe it's time for a little creativity.
