I have searched the site a bit but everything I have found has to do with pre-hung doors. I am using 4 old doors but with new jamb kits, how do I go about hanging the jambs? Where do I start? I had thoughts of laying the jambs and doors on the floor and "making" pre-hung doors and then hanging them, would this be a better way to go?
Thanks....

Yep...that will work fine. I buy slab doors for the houses I build and make my own jamb material out of 5/4 oak. I then "pre-hang" them with casing just on one side ( because I don't have a split jamb like the storebought stuff) and take them to the new house that way.

What you'll find is the "trick" is acurately mortising the area where the hinge meets the jamb...I bought a $150 special jig for a router just to do that....though with enough patience, you CAN do it by hand and a chisel.
