Hi ! I am hoping somebody on this newsgroup might be able to help me.

I have a two story house with a gas heating system. I think its an HVAC. One of the rooms on the top floor has a rhythmic beat coming from the vent when the heat is on. Its pretty noisy and irritating. Other rooms don't have that problem.

Any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix it ?

Thanks in advance.

Does the rythmic beat kinda sound a bit like jazz. :D

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

I would suggest that you first remove the grill to eliminate that possibility.

There is a chance that there is a loose balance damper somewhere in the duct, near the outlet.

If you can, visualize a round or square piece of tin swinging back and forth on a pivot when the fan blows.

Is this what the sound is like?

This could take some ingenuity to be able to access.
Could be as simple as reaching in the duct or as bad as having to open up some walls to find it.
