I recently had a white marble sill cut for a double hung window in my living room. It fits perfectly and everthing is fine except that I am unsure of what to use to glue it down to the wooden support ledge. The label on Liquid Nails Projects says that that product shouldn't be used with marble and none of their other adhesives specifically say that they are marble friendly. Any help with what adhesive to use will be appreciated.

Hi
Glad you read the directions. With white marble, the liquid nails could have stained the marble and left a dark mark on the surface.
See if you can find a small bag of white modified thin set. The white thin set will not stain the marble, and will support it well when it hardens.:)

adanac,

I'll be looking for some white modified thin set today. Thank you for the advice.

I hope your wooden support ledge isn't a 2x4 or 2x6. if it is and you glue the sill to it it could break when the wood swells, twists, shrinks as temperature and humidity change.
If you have enough clearance, nail tarpaper or visqueen then diamond mesh wire lath and use the thinset.

can also use one of many adhesive latex caulks of the market if it is not a 2x. My favorite is Polyseamseal.
