I have a very old Glenwood natural gas stove/oven/space heater that the space heater portion does not work. The problem seems to be that the pilot flame is too small to heat the TC to allow gas to flow to the burner. I have removed the pilot/TC assembly and cleaned the gas ports on the pilot with a needle but the flames from the pilot don't reach the TC. They are all one piece so there is no way to mover them closer together. Any suggestions?

Hello tom1234. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Not exactly sure if you cleaned the pilot orifice, based on your explanation. It's not clear what you cleaned except the pilot assembly.

The orifice is a tiny thimble like part that has an extremely small hole or slot in it which the pilot gas comes out of. It's located inside the pilot assembly at the location where the gas tube enters the assembly.

If you have to cleanout the orifice, do not enlarge the tiny hole or slot. Doing so will render the orifice useless.

If you have already cleanout out the entier pilot assembly and the pilot flame is still too small, there is most likely a pilot flame size adjustment on the gas control valve or where the pilot gas tube is supplied from.

The pilot assembly does not allow for physical movement of the parts. The pilot flame should encircle the tip of the themocouple but the flame cannot be too large.

Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the possible problem causes.
