I need to replace an existing pocket door. Is there anyway to remove a pocket door without tearing out the wall?

Yes.
Dismantle and remove the trim. The pocket door should slide right out.
Either very carefully pry the trim off, or sink the finish nails with a straight-shank punch the same size as the nails.
