We are trying to replace the locks on the doors of the house we just moved into. We got the deadbolt replaced just fine, but can't even get the doorknob off. There are no external screws, and we can't figure out how it comes apart. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

This sounds like Kwikset locks and the covers snap on. To remove the door knob, look for a small slot along the straight part of the knob and take a small screwdriver and push in the slot while pulling the knob off. Take the screwdriver and pry off the plate. It should pop off. Behind the plate you will find screws to take the rest of the door knob off. If this does not work, repost.

R.L Boatright is probably right about how to disassemble the lockset, but to find out what brand you are dealing with, look on the edge of the door, where the latch from the lockset sticks out. There is a plate surrounding the latch and the mfgr's. name should be stamped on that plate.
quote:
Originally posted by R. L. Boatright:
