I live in the N.E and my metal framed sliding glass doors sweat in the winter and then the floor gets quite wet. What can I do to prevent or minimize this besides replacing the doors?

Pray for a winter that is about as warm as you keep the inside of your home, or keep the inside of your home at about the same temperature as it is outside! The condensation is caused by the temperature difference between the inside and the outside, and how easily your slider conducts that difference. Replace the slider with a good vinyl slider ($500 to $1,000), or build a room outside of the slider to help keep the outside surface of the slider warmer ($3,500 and up!). And I haven't even touched on what this condensation is doing to your floors, or what the slider is costing you in terms of added utility costs during the winter.
