i had this problem before on my old wedgewood stove.

the pilot light is still on, but the burner won't ignite.

this happened once before, and i got it working again by pressing the red button inside the stove. and the thing worked again. this time, i push the button in, and it wont pop back out.

i have been having issues lately with pilot lights going out.

any ideas?

Hello: Guevara

The red button is the reset button for the safety device. If it is not working correctly, the only safe option is to replace the entire valve part.

Another rare possibility is the pilot generator element may need to be replaced. Possible but not likely based on the problem description.

In some cases, depending on how the pilot gas is routed or piped to the pilot assembly, the pilot will always remain on. The safety device only controls burner gas.

This safety device turns off the burner gas in the advent the pilot goes out during operation or before operation starts. Without it functioning correctly, there is always the chance the burner gas will come out without any source of igntion. A dangerous situation to say the least.

Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers and stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the possible problem causes. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

An excellent source for orginal replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Appliance parts dealers test parts and carry replacement parts for all appliances.
