How long has the semi gloss been on the walls? Better yet - how much gloss is left?
For best results get a sanding pole and do a quick, light sanding. Wipe off the dust.
If there is a lot of gloss left, then use a good primer first. The cost and time is minimal and well worth it for a good job.

The paint job is about 6 yrs old.
There is a tlight texture so sanding would not work well.
Thanks for posting.

What kind of texture?if you mean just what is there from the roller. You can still sand it.You just need to ruff the sheen up a bit.But with it being that old you might be able to just paint over it try a small spot in a corner. And after it drys apply aa secound coat wait till the next day and see if you can scracth it off with your figure nails.Do it firmly.if it doesnt come off it will be fine paint on.If it does your going to have to sand it with 100 grit and primmer it.
