Hello all - newbie here. I just put up a short stretch of vinyl gutters over my front door. They are white and I wanted to paint them to match my outdoor trim. I went out and got some Glidden Latex and applied. To test, I sanded the glossy surface of a small experimental gutter piece (left over), primed with Kilz's Total and painted.
I let this dry for about 36 hours INSIDE my home. Then, I wet the piece and left it outside to see how it would look the next morning, trying to simulate ran and cold over night.
The next morning, the paint had these marks that left what looked to be water stains - little lines that the drops of water ran down. Many wipe off with some vigor, but for obvious reasons I don't want to have to wipe down my gutters every time it rains outside.
Any suggestions?

The latex needs to dry longer before it won't show the water streaks you mention. It can take 7 days.

Hello egbrown76, I don't have a can of KILZ Total One here but make certain it is rated for exterior use. As chfite says latex bonding primers and paints have a 7 day total cure time....Mike

Thanks to both of you. I guess that's what the problem is. I try it yet again. BTW, the primer can be used as exterior prime.
