Is there any place on the web to get detailed directions on how to install replacement windows?

Not that I know of. Instructions usually come with them. If not most home improvement centers have a brochure. Your question has been asked many times.

I don't know of any site either. Will you be replacing the windows, or retrofitting them? (Replacement means removing frame and all of the old window. Retrofitting involves removing the glass and mullions, but leaving the existing frame.) Replacement windows are sized to the rough opening; retrofits are custom made to fit inside the frame of the old window. If you are retrofitting, let the glass shop measure them for you. That way, if there is any mis-measured windows, it's their mistake, not yours. (And you won't be charged for 'their' mistakes, only 'yours'!)
