Hi,

I am think to replace two old AL sliding windows in my son's room to reduce the noise from the air conditioner outside. I want to use vinyl double panes replacement windows. I had one estimate from a company. They wants $2500 for just two windows. I think it's too much. What is a good price? I just have no idea. Please email me your kind response to derekyeu@hotmail.com. Thank you very much

First off, how big are the windows? When you say "sliding", is this one pane or two panes that slide? What kind of siding do you have on the house in the area where these 2 windows will be going? Which leg was this guy standing on when he quoted you this price? A "good" vinyl window, like a Milgard, an Insulate, a Simington, an Amerimax, etc., retrofitted into your existing frame, should run in the range of $250 to $500, installed, depending on where you live, how big the windows are, the type of siding they will be sealed to, etc. Of course, if you are enlarging the width of the existing openings, that will run up the cost, as a new header would have to be installed.

My windows are sizes are
70 1/2" X 34"
70 1/2" X 22 1/2"

Only one pane move on both windows. I have stucco walls. I live in Los Angeles. I also have wood shutters on my windows. Will I be able to keep them? Thanks!

Derek
