During a recent wind storm, the storm door flew open, tearing part of the wood out of the jam where the door cylinder is attached. The rip is approx. 1.5"x 9" long. I'm looking for the best way to fix this. Is there a putty that you can use that would be strong enough to fill the hole? TIA

go to the hardware store or buidling supply and get a small can of Durham's Water Putty. Mix with water (duh) to creamy thick consistency and trowel on the hole with a putty knife. When dry, you can sand smooth and repaint.
