I have a Kenmore Gas Dryer, about 8 - 10 years old.
I have cleaned the dryer filter, duct work and burner area. I removed the view plug in the front of dryer and I don't see any evidence of a flame.
Would you normally see a glow and then a flame? I am not familar with gas units, and don't know what I should be seeing or hearing.
I have cleaned and checked everything in the owners manual, but I think some infomation in there is limited.
Should I remove the whole unit to have it tested?
Please advise.

Hi,
**Would you normally see a glow and then a flame?**
Yes.
**I have cleaned the dryer filter, duct work and burner area. I removed the view plug in the front of dryer and I don't see any evidence of a flame.**
Cleaning the dryer vent and vent hood and ducts inside the dryer is a great idea!! :) Should be done every couple of years or so.

Common tests, what parts do what that may help can be found on page above....checking to see if the glow bar ignitor is comming on or not is a good place to start.
**Should I remove the whole unit to have it tested?**
Many appliance repair shops can help test this for you...call first to make sure they have testing facilities in place before you bring in the burner assy.

Jeff,
Thanks for all of your help. Long story short. I not only had a Kenmore that wouldn't glow, I have a Whirlpool that wouldn't heat properly, (sutt like gray on clothes) and would cycle right. I talked to a very cooperative Whirlpool repairman. He told me to take the back of the Kenmore and find the little white fuse on the back. Disconnect the wires, and tape them together (tempory) to see if the burner glowed and lite. It did :D! Then he told me to take the back of the Whirpool and take the same fuse from it, and put it on the Kenmore. Saved me $15 part, $45 service, and $20 labor.
Your sight is great! Learned alot.
Thanks
