moved into a new house that is 50 years old. kitchen cabinets are painted blue. i want to keep the cabinets in place but change them so they look old and rustic. what i picture is a thin coat of black paint and roughing up the surface so they look worn (like hitting with various objects).

i think i will need to strip of the blue pain (and any other layers). also there may be a layer of laminate that i need to remove. either the cabinates have a think laminate on them or a thin layer of wood because it looks to be peeling/separating in a couple ares - about 1/8 inch thick.

i am also thinking of watering down the black pain so they are not jet black but aged/worn looking....

any ideas/suggestions?????
