We are getting ready to install a new laminate floor. The planks are 9.5 inches by 48. The trouble is we have a 12 foot long stone hearth that runs the length of our fireplace. The planks will run parallel to the stone and I'm not sure how to finish this area off. Since we're supposed to leave a 1/4'' space all around, how do you hide the space when it butts up agains stone masonry? Is there any special product or do we have to buy wood trim and spend 10 years with a coping saw?

Please tell me if there's another way !! : )

You can undercut the hearth with a grinder or undercut saw and a masonry blade, or fill the gap with color match caulk available from the manufacturer of the planks or use an edge molding or a combination of any two of the methods mentioned. Any of these will require much less time than 10 years.;) Good Luck with your project.
