Yesterday I bought a GE Spectra (XL44) gas range. It came with a set of orifices and instructions for converting from nat gas to propane. It looks pretty simple.
Of course, the first line in the instructions is "This conversion must be performed by a qualified installer." My question is, is this just a lawyer-mandated cover-your-butt line or do I really need to call out the pros? If I do it myself, are there any particular steps that I should watch out for (anything that looks simple but is actually tricky)?
I realize that any advice is given on a "don't blame me if you screw up" basis. ;) However, any tips/advice/warnings are appreciated.

Hello Don and Welcome to our Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances forum.
The inclusion of the wording into the instructions is there to provide liable coverage for the manufacturer and the purchaser of the appliance. It would be wise to heed the warnings.
It would also be wise to follow the instructions to the letter or allow a professional to make the conversion. However, a person with some reason safety precautions and mechanical skills can in fact make the conversion.
