Is it possible to make your own single use manometer using a tube and a ruler? I hope this question does not sound too stupid. I have a gas boiler that seems to be over firing and I would just like to check the manifold pressure. I will be taking safety very serious when doing this. Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!

Hello: Homer
Yes. It is possible but I will not be able to provide you with the information on doing so. Never had a need to make my own.
Realize the tool may be a one time usage item and not worth the cost to buy it new. However, not sure if detailing the means here in a public forum would be a wise idea for all to see or attempt to make one.
Nor will I provide such information in any means of private communications. Suggest buying the tool and reading the information included with the device as a best means and source of information.
