The exterior thumbplate on my front door is no longer controlling the deadbolt. The interior handle IS still working correctly (controls the deadbolt). Is this something that is typically fixable (by me or a locksmith) or should I just get a new handleset? Of course I'd rather fix it instead of forking out the cash for new Baldwin hardware.
BTW, I've recently purchased this home so Baldwin will not support the hardware warranty since it was purchased by the previous owner ... bummer.
TIA ... Chris H

Hard to say-the problem could be caused by different things. I am not real familiar with Baldwin so I can only speak generally.
Sometimes a thumb piece will bend or break or will become disconnected from the linkage. I believe Baldwin sells parts so you would have to disassemble and see what the problem is. Whether or not is worth it depends on your time(or a locksmiths) and the cost of parts if available vs. a new lock. Sorry I cannot give you more specifics.
