I tried to use the heat for the first time this year and it won't start. I turned the thermastat all the way up to be sure that it should and nothing happened, even after waiting for 10+ minutes. We've been in the house for 5 years and have never had any issues with the heat.
I checked the circuit breaker and it's not tripped. I pulled the thermastat and all the wires are still connected (long shot).
Any ideas on what I should check? Or should I just call a service person?
Thanks,
-Steve

Sorry about that.
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of the info that you're asking for. Info I can provide is that I live in San Diego, and it's a gas unit in the attic. I don't know who the manufacturer of the unit is (I realize that seems like a basic piece of info that I should have, but I haven't been in the attic to look). There hasn't been any work done on the unit that I know of.
I'm moderately handy, but have never done anything with the furnice before so I don't even know where to start. If there are specific pieces of information that you need, please let me know.
Thanks,
-Steve

Your unit could have a pilot light light that is out or it could be an electronic ignition that has failed.
There are also a number of electrical problems that could cause this problem.
You would have to go to the unit, remove the covers and begin troubleshooting.
Or.................call a service company.
Post back if you need more help.
