Some one told me about a system they installed in there workshp garage and home last night.
They talked about running water lines under the foudation and using a water heater to heat there workshop/home from the floor up. They said the floor maintained a 85 degree temp and room temp was at 72 all the time. Does anyone know of this process?

It's called radiant in floor hot water heating. Many who have it love it- no cold floors. Try typing that into a search engine.

i think this is the best way to heat. the entire room, walls, furniture, etc hold the heat, not the air in the space.

This type of heating is quite popular around here.

I plan to build a 24' x 40' shop in the next couple of years and plan to install pex tubing in the floor and only use a domestic hw heater to heat the space to just above freezing.

Main heat will be by a space heater to allow the temperature to come up quickly when I turn up the heat.
Recovery is the downside to floor heat.

If you have a shop that will be heated constantly at one temp you will be happy with it.
