My baseboard heater does not come on unless I turn the t-stat up to at least 90. I purchased a replacement but the replacement has stranded copper wires and the wires in my wall are solid copper wires. Is it safe to connect? The old t-stat is about 25 years old.

Not knowing what type of baseboard heat you have....Stranded or solid wire, it doesn't matter.

Sorry, it is electric 220 baseboard heat. A friend told me not to connect stranded to solid wire, but I don't trust him.

That's fine, most t'stat for electric are stranded wire.
