I have a Heil gas furnace that is about 12-15 years old. The bearings are going out on the blower motor and I've yet figured out how to get the old motor out.

Usually the whole blower housing has to come out to replace the motor. A seek and destroy mission......

by unhooking power, and locating the 2 screws in the front that hold the assembly in place, on that model they are 5/16th screws going up into theframe. then pull blower out, it slides on a track.

I noticed the screws and the slide frame. But my problem is the exhaust and the guard covering it is located at the front preventing me from sliding the motor out. The guard has two screws at the bottom but is spot welded at the top.

you will have to remove the vent pipe and "exhaust guard" . this will be attached with sheetmetal screws. some parts are welded, just look for a way to remove the ones that are by unscrewing the entire part. there may be a cover that is removed that will expose the screw heads. good luck
