Greetings!
I've got a new shower system installed in my bathroom. It's a single lever type which I believe has a temperature control valve. I have used it for a while which had no problem but recently I have noticed that I can't seem to get enough hot water even though it is turned all the way to hottest temperature. When I turned the hot water from my lavatory faucet, which has a separate hot and cold water faucet, it is boiling hot.
Is this the problem of the faucet or the way it is installed? I have to call my contractor to get it fixed but I just want to be prepared and also curious if it is a simple fix-up or not. Please advise!
Thank you.

sabb65,
Because of what you said, the hot water heater seems to be doing it's job - bath sink is working fine..no problem - so on to the shower;
A couple of things could be wrong and each is simple if you are sure that you have a temperature control valve. Not knowing what brand you have makes it hard to tell you waht to do but you should have the contractor's plumber resolve it, no questions asked. It might just need an adjustment on the temperature limit setting.
If it was working OK and now it is only luke warm, and possibly low on volume of water, on the hot side, some debris might be in the line creating some blockage and allowing the cold to do it's thing and not balancing out.
If the unit was installed to galvanized pipes, some debris might have broken loose and is creating some blockage. Removal of this is simple and removal of the cartidge and purging the line is simple to do.
In either case, it should be a simple thing and you should be back in business within 5 minutes...tops! In few cases, temp control valves can be faulty, replacement should be plumbers, not yours.
Hope this helps!

Doug,
Thanks for the info. The hard part would be getting my plumber back.
He used the copper pipes and the shower faucet is by Kohler. I'm not sure if it has a temperature setting even though I just assumed that all single lever faucets are temperature control. In any case I do hope it's a simple fix as you said. Getting the contractor back is another story though.

sabb65,
Sorry to hear about your situation...it makes a whole dream a nightmare! I have attached a link regarding Kohler Rite-Temp which is the total installation and temp adjustment settings. Please review and follow the directions accordingly. These are simple in which you can do yourself;
