Is it possible to convert a regular heavy duty (home) washer/dryer into coin-operated machines for 3 families to use?

If not, any suggestions where and how to find one of each?Thoughts on used vs. new?

I thank you in advance for your help.... Debbie Ann :-)

Hello Debbie Ann. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum.

It is always possible to make the conversion but not likely cost effective. Best bet would be to purchase already equipped coin operated machines.

Depending upon the intended usage, it may be more costs effective to contact a local coin operated washing machine service company. Especially if the machines will be used by tenants.

Local phone directories have listings for both the sale of commerical machines, new and used and service companies to supply and maintain the machines to landlords in rental properities.

There is a coin-op timer I have seen that requires the power supply cord to be run thru it. I don't know the name of it and also it would need to be installed in a safe environment. Would probably be easy to steal.
