Hi Jerry,

Thanks for posting in the woodworking forum.

You're question is a bit vague. Perhaps you can elaborate and ask more specific questions about what you need help with. We're here to help, but need to know exactly what you asking.

Thanx

I too, am wanting to build a bed frame. I want a headboard and footboard on mine. I intend to paint them to match existing furniture and probably do some decoupage or artwork of some kind on them. I'm a drapery designer make custom bedding and will be covering most of the bed posts with fabric, but I'd like the headboard and footboard to show. What should I make this with? My mattresses are king sized. I don't want the headboard and footboards to look plywoody. I want it to be inexpensive. I saw a product called MDF which I'd never heard of. Any thoughts on this stuff?

I also want posts, and am toying with using eight foot porch posts or maybe just plain 2 X 4's since I could cover them with large swaths of fabric. I'll probably build some sort of straight canopy so I can do drapery work up there as well.

I'm delighted to find your site! I didn't know it existed. I found it when I typed in How To Make a Headboard.
