My 50 year old home has a large hole in the ceiling in the back bedroom. The hole was a result of a leaky roof that caused the ceiling to collapse. The roof has since been repaired but not the interior hole. I was wondering how to go about in repairing it, or since it is a large hole, to leave it up to a professional. Any suggestions?

If it is sheetrock, cut the damaged area back to where you can attach to the ceiling joists and mount a new piece of sheetrock, tape and mud, sand, prime, and paint.
