I have a Carrier 58PAV gas furnace. The blower will start to turn however I do not see any fire or heat. The blower will run for about 3 minutes followed by a buzzing sound (lasts about 2 minutes) from a circular unit above the gas valve. The circular unit above the gas valve has "rotate" on it. I believe the status code on the unit is 31, but I don't know how to troubleshoot it based on the information from the manual.

Hello tcha3329. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic & the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

The problem you are describing has many possible problem causes. Far too many to explain in detail here. However, the furnace is in a lock down mode and will not fireup the burners as a result of the problem.

The problems are in one of the systems. The ignition system, power venting system, a safety device has been activated, the circuit board is defective, the gas valve or the module.

The part you are referring to, circular unit, is most likely the power venting fan. Which means a small fan with the rotate words on it. This fan is suppose to be on prior to the heaters burners turning on.

However, if there is a problem with venting or elsewhere, the main circuit board will not allow the furnace to continue through the startup process and fire up the burners.
