We are planning our bathroom remodel. The bathroom is in the basement.
I have looked at several options for bathtubs, but also like the idea of a soaking tub.
Are there any drawbacks to using tile to create your own soaking tub versus a pre-made tub? (With a tiled in tub, we can get the exact size we need for the space.) Also, are some tiles better to use for this than others (ceramic? slate?)? And where could I get information on the specifics of building one? Are there any good books out there?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, there are some good books out there on ceramic tiling, and you can post your question over in the Ceramic Tile forum for professional guidance. See www.johnbridge.com
