How hard is it to replace a fiberglass bathtub in a house with a slab floor. It seems like a lot of people want to stay away from doing it during a remodel.

How to Remove Your Bathtub
As household fixtures go, bathtubs tend to rank among the most durable. But if your tub's time has come, consider the following carefully before choosing a new one. First, figure out how you'll get the old tub out of the bathroom. This might prove a problem because the bathroom door and walls may have gone up after the tub was built in. That means you'll have to:

Break it down with a reciprocating saw or sledgehammer

Call in a demolition crew

Consider repainting the old tub a new color. Repainting will give an old tub a fresh look, but let a professional do the job because it's a very tricky technique.

If you do get the tub out, be sure to use the same measurements when picking out a new one because, if you can't fit the new one through the door, you'll be taking baths in the hallway.

When purchasing a tub, you have three choices of materials:

Cast iron, the classic
Enameled steel, less expensive but vulnerable to rust
Manmade, which is lighter and easier to install, but doesn't always last as well.
