My tv has been doing this a while, but it is getting louder and more annoying. My tv, a GE 19gt352, is making a very high pitch ringing noise. It doesn't matter if I have the cable, satellite, VCR or DVD on... if the tv is on its making the noise. We were able to smack the side, not too hard, with the palm of our hands to get it to stop for about 15 mins, now even that doesn't help. I have tried searching the GE website and can't even find my model# on the site anymore. The tv is probably about 10 years old. The picture is great and the audio from the tv is great. The noise doesn't even really seem to come from the speakers.

The flyback transformer is the problem here. Replacement is the best way to fix this problem. Part number is located on sticker on side of flyback.
