I was recently sorely disappointed to find that Smuckers changed the recipe for my favorite hot fudge topping to something resembling roofing tar with Exlax flavoring. Seems this “new & improved” downgrading is all over consumer markets these days.

Not having to mud any drywall in a few years I was surprised to see stacks of blue buckets piled next to the familiar green pails of joint compound. Lightweight, less shrinkage, blah, blah, blah.

Yeah it’s lighter (about 60% of the weight) but I can just see it now… giant whipping arms beating air into regular joint compound to produce this new and improved Mud-Lite ;-) Now they can sell less for more.

Tell me it ain’t so. What’s the story here? I’d like the pro opinion of this stuff. I like the idea of faster set times and less shrinkage but I don’t want to sacrifice strength and wear.

Thanks…
