The ceiling tile in our family room has been water damaged and the tiles are not manufactured any longer. I have started tearing down the other tiles but I am hoping that there is a easier way to do it than with a putty knive and standing on a ladder. Besides it is leaving large pots of glue on the dry wall. I realize that in order to repair the drywall I am going to have to scrap that off too, right? What I would really like to do is panel the ceiling with a light color of beadboard but my husband thinks I am nuts wanting to put paneling on the ceiling. He doesn't believe that it will stay up. Any help?

You can put paneling up on the ceiling with furring strips.
