I have a second floor bathroom with no fan in it. Consequently all of the paint is starting to peel of the walls - from the humidity I presume. Obviously I need to install a fan - do I have to vent it all the way out side? I am trying to avoid cutting through the roof. There is not attic per se just the space (maybe 6") between my ceiling and the roof line. Are there any alternatives?

I take it that there is an outside wall here. There are vent fans that will go in the wall to the outside for you.Or could you fish a 3" flex pipe out to the overhang on the home and vent the fan there. Dont vent it in the attic at all. ;) ED

The only outside wall in the bathroom is entirely in the shower enclosure. The shower does have a window in it that opens but it opens from the bottom and does not appear to let any of the steam out. Venting it to the overhang sounds like a possibility though. Thanks

You can put the fan in the ceiling/attic and run the flex right to the sidewal, and do the sidewall discharge.
